Innovative 16-Zone Takeover Module Delivers Key Industry-First Features

(June 3, 2015 – San Jose, CA) — Qolsys, provider of best-in-class residential security and smarthome solutions, announced today the availability of the IQ Hardwire 16, a hardwire-to-wireless translator designed to replace legacy systems.  This innovative takeover module is perfect for the burgeoning smarthome builder market when paired with the IQ Panel, the first “All-in-One” 7-inch touchscreen for security and home control.

“The IQ Hardwire 16 is the result of our customer collaboration and feedback loop,” said Qolsys Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mike Hackett.  “This device is another example of our innovation in every room delivering key features, simplifying the installation process and reducing time in the home.”

Doubling the capacity of the industry standard 8-zone expander, each of the 16 zones has its own LED light for ease of installation during the learn-in process and troubleshooting.  EOL resistor learning supports 1K to 10K Ohm resistors, automatically calibrating and speeding up installation time by eliminating the need to know individual resistor values or perform the typical “cut and splice” for every zone.

An onboard supervised power module (500 mA) allows for easy takeover of hardwire motions, glass breaks, etc.  Rounding out this impressive feature set is a charging circuit for a back-up battery which is fully supervised and provides recovery after a power outage.  In addition, a siren relay allows easy installation of hardwire sirens up to 1 amp.  The IQ Hardwire 16 is now available at Qolsys authorized distribution locations.

“The IQ Hardwire 16 is long-overdue and delivers key features that will benefit us in every installation,” said Robert McDonald, General Manager of Vintage Security.  “We have been very pleased with our relationship with Qolsys and their openness to listen and bring innovative solutions to the security channel.”

The IQ Hardwire 16 is an innovative and intuitive solution bolstering the IQ Panel’s already robust line of peripherals and devices and strengthens Qolsys’ position as a leader in security and smarthome technology.
